All-on-4-Implants

All-On-4 Implants in Pinole

All-On-4 Dental Implants are a specific dental implant procedure to replace a full arch of missing teeth in the upper or lower jaw, supported by just four strategically placed dental implants. This approach allows for a less invasive surgical procedure, faster healing, and better results for  many patients. All-On-4 implants also allow some individuals with jawbone loss to receive full-mouth implants without undergoing bone grafting.

The All-On-4 Process

Dr. Yeh will perform a detailed clinical examination, take 3D CT scan and go over your treatment plan thoroughly at your initial consultation. On the day of surgery, Dr. Yeh will answer any of your questions and numb the area with a local anesthetic. You will be given some form of sedation to relax you and keep you comfortable during the procedure.

She will place two implants at the back of the mouth, precisely angling them to take the best advantage of the available bone. The other two implants will be placed toward the front of the mouth, where bone density is greater. The procedure takes 2 to 3 hours.

Before going home, Dr. Yeh will place a full arch of temporary teeth on the implants so that you can eat and smile normally while the all-on-4 dental implants fuse with your jawbone. The fusing process can take anywhere from 3 to 6 months. When fusion is complete, your temporary teeth are replaced with permanent dentures that are attached to the implants. These permanent dentures can last decades, and for many patients, last a lifetime.

Benefits of All-On-4 Implants

  • Less surgery is needed.
  • Less need for bone grafting.
  • Cost-effective because fewer implants are needed.
  • Excellent stability due to angled placement.
  • Immediate function.
  • Less chance of complications.

Who Qualifies for All-On-4 Dental Implants?

Anyone who is missing most or all of their teeth and is in good health may qualify for All-On-4 implants, provided they have healthy gums. If you have some jawbone loss and do not want to undergo bone grafting, you may be an ideal candidate. However, individuals with conditions such as uncontrolled diabetes, certain autoimmune disorders, or blood-clotting conditions may not be candidates. Heavy smokers are not typically candidates for full mouth implants due to healing issues.

What is the All-On-X Procedure?

All-On-X is a similar procedure to All-On-4, but Dr. Yeh may determine that your permanent dentures should be supported by 4 to 8 implants, depending on the condition of your jawbone, facial anatomy, and other factors. All-On-X can offer greater stability and better load distribution and is sometimes the best choice for addressing more complex needs. While All-On-4 is a specific system, All-On-X is more adaptable and relies on Dr. Yeh’s 30 years of expertise to determine the best number and configuration of implants for optimal patient results.
